I'd like to buy a boat cover for my Hobie 18. Are there any alternatives to the $800+ 'Top Gun' covers? Thanks. |

Your Hobie dealer offers a less expensive 'Universal Cover' - they are sold through the Hobie Cat parts catalog, and have a retail of $237. They work great, and are made of a woven polyethylene that is coated on both sides. To order call toll free 1800hobie49 - or click the dealer finder here: http://www.hobiecat.com/support/dealers/search/ |

to protect the tramp from sun i use Lowes heavy duty tarp... 8x10 feet and some bungees. 8 feet across goes to the edge of either hull 10 feet bow/stern from crossbar to aft of boom mine is on the beach most of the year and experiences severe bouts of spontaneous sailing... don't wanna fuss w/a cover. i just wash/polish prob 2x year and mclube/teflon the stainless, blocks, etc every few sails. tarp off, jib cover down, main up, boards down and I"m gone. 10 min. |

I have been using Hobie's universal boat cover for about five years and it has performed beyond my expectations. It covers a boat which is stored outdoors and has very little deterioration and it fits. |
