Have not tried the shackle on the shroud yet. shackles came with the kit so I would expect them to work on the hobie shrouds. I don't think the shackle has to support that much unless the boat was sailed with the extender in use. Will report when I try the shackle.

Tried the shackle and found it would take a tiny shackle to work. The only other
possibility is after removing the quick pin and releasing the shroud, You would have to reinstall the pin to catch the shackle. That would be a pita with the boat on it's side.
