boat has been outside all last winter. it is rigged in standard fashion bows forward on trailer. i can hear water inside the mast upwards around the spreader area. i drilled a hole at the lowest point of the mast, (the head/top) and absolutely no water came out. the foot/base of the mast is elevated and facing front on the trailer. do i just wait to raise mast then drill a hole at the base? how is this sealed to allow water half way up but not at lowest point?

Don't drill random holes in your mast. Check for leaks by dunking the mast in a lake and seeing where bubbles are coming from, then seal.
