Was starting to install the Hobie 20 style tiller connector on my H18. The instructions say tiller crossbar should be 76", which mine is. But when I hold the end caps in line with my current one it appears that I need at least 1/4" cut off just to get the rudders straight, leaving no room for shortening.

Am I missing something here? Was there an old style rudder arm that was straight and it's tiller crossbar did not need shortening? My rudder arms are the style that are bent inwards.

Thanks,
Steve Jarboe

I didnt have to cut mine. Mine is 76". Make sure the threaded end is in its endcap correctly. I have about 1/4" adjustment left.
