I recently bought an 18 with magnum wings and noticed there is only one of four anchor plates installed. Is there a reason not to install these?

uh, installed WHERE? at the front crossbar, the shrouds, rear crossbar?

there should be four installed at the front crossbar (inside and out) and two at the shrouds.
anything less is asking for trouble, or a hull failure.

or are you talking about the wing strut anchors? you need all four installed.

Yup, wing strut anchors. I linked to them above but it is a little hard to see the link inline with the text. Only one of four (rear-starboard crossbar) were installed for whatever reason.

You really only need them where you have it. Helps cover the larger opening to feed the tramp section in. I think they help even the loading out at all points. They are standard on the larger SX wings at all points.

OK, now I see what you mean. As already said it is only needed at the rear starboard side mounting because of the wide area of the track.

I thought you were talking about the strut tabs at the outboard end of the crossbars.

I actually just installed that piece with my Magnum Wings.
