Hi Guys and Gals,

Please let me know if you've got a secret to removing broken and seized screws from a boom cleat clamp. I posted pictures in the Repair forum here:

Thanks,

Mark

I just had the same problem and ended up ordering replacements from Murrays.
Hobie part numbers:
Screws 8031011
Clamp 61711000
Cleat 61070000
If you have access to a drill press you could drill out the screws and insert Helicoils, it's a 10-24 thread. Reassemble with Tef-Gel or Locktite Blue.
Good luck,
Jim

Heat was the trick! I used a propane torch to heat the aluminum all around the broken screw, holding the clamp with pliers. Then I put the clamp in a vise and used a vise-grip to grab the end of the screw and thread it out. It worked great.

Thanks,

Mark
