Post subject:  Crack on bottom of hull
After reading some of the post re: cracks, I thought that a picture is worth a thousand words.

This is approximately how long the crack is. What is the best repair.

Probably just a gelcoat crack (possibly from a hard beach landing). The only way to know for sure would be to grind off some of the gelcoat and inspect the glass below. If the glass is cracked, you would need to grind out the damaged glass and re-glass the hull. If the glass is not cracked, then just re-gelcoat. You can also press hard on the hull in that area to see if there is any flexing or do a coin tap test to see if there is any delmaination.

No flexing and no difference in sound when I tap on it.

I have a bunch of scratches that i was going to fill on the bottoms, dagger wells, transom.....etc. So I will just add the cracks to the list.
After I fill, I am going to buff, polish and wax. I hope to have new sails ordered today and get the boat back in the water by next Sunday.

You're scheduling sounds a bit ambitious. I did some gel repair on my 18 last year. If I remember correctly, you want to give the gelcoat at least a week to cure before exposing it to water. Be sure to check the directions that came with your gelcoat regarding this.
