poolmarkw, Last dec you posted a pic of your baby bob mount on a comptip. Have you used it in a capsize yet and was it structurally sound????(no damage to comptip or bracket?) dja

I actually haven't had a capsize since I mounted it, but I'm very confident about its strength.

speaking of comptip. MY 2000 18 has one (my only out of the 6-7 boats I've owned) and it's new to me. When resting the mast in the trailers (holder fore and aft) I pull the mast more FORWARD - over the truck in front so that not as much of the mast (and comp tip) sticks out behind the trailer and boat. Because of this I have the back trailer master rest holding the "comp tip" portion. So it's leaning on that. I suspect this is ok? Or should have it the mast more back so that it's supported only on the aluminum?

rojoinc, I have trailered my 18 mast with the thick bottom third of the comptip supported on a thin piece of foam for the last27 years with no damage. It sits on the mast support which is attached to the trailer frame. This keeps all of the mast weight off the boat.

poolemarkw, Thanks for reply on mast float.....Have added one to my h18 to your specs. Am planning an intentional capsize or two to check it out and will let you know the results...DJ
