I got it for Lake Mi. I use my 16 w/spin on inland lakes. Now I have one of each = )
The 16 is more fun, but for long day lake sailing - the 18 can't be beat. SO MUCH ROOM TO MOVE AROUND and stretch out.

Very,very cool.

Please PM me how you set up your main block system.
Or describe it here.

When you want to 'grow' your SX 18, consider:
1. 5 - 1 downhaul (very nifty and handy)
2. Tie a piece of bungee from the port side of the front cross bar, diagonally up to the bottom
of the diamond wires, around the diamond wires to the bottom of the starboard side of the front cross bar.
This should be mounted so that the jib sheets lie ON TOP of the bungee... no more tangles at the base of the mast.
3. Keep a look out for a Tiger spin....

Enjoy, that is a fine looking Hobie.

You will love the wings.... comfortable all day and they give you lots of room. Hope to see you out at Muskegon some time. CRAM regatta is next week, July 27, 28.

Great boat, looks really good....

2 different mainsheets in the pix.. but I was really checking out the nice jib blocks.

question... HOW is the H16 more fun? I ask 'cuz I have a 14 and an 18..

the 18 is a beast, powerful and I just love driving it... sails so well... dialed in real well.

BUT it's a bit too much as I want to sail solo more (160lbs) and even w/crew racing we're underweight (min class is 295).

so I've been thinking to move into a really sweet newer Hobie 16.

Why do you think the 16 is more fun then..? Thx, -Rob.

So if you like the progression of the 18 to an 18sx, now its time to look at a 21se. Holey (censored) is it a beast. I have owned many 18's and 18sx love them all, still have a 18sx wannabe, wings only, but looking for a mast so i can order sails. Sorry got lost for a moment. The 21se in so dam big, and powerful, can sail six full sized adults and have plenty of room for big coolers and such.
Just thought i would pipe in. Love all my Hobie's
