PFDs, painter, (also useful if you capsize), plus in Canada we are obliged to carry a 'buoyant heaving line of 15 metres', paddle(s), (often tied off underneath the centre part of the tramp to the lacing lines that join the Left and right half, or in my case, underneath the wings), whistle (unless you have one attached to your PFD), spare parts/tool kit (mine is a small pouch with a Leatherman, some shackes, a Hobie tool, Micropore, electrical tape, and some line) Sailing Gloves, and spray jackets.
In addition, you may wish to carry some oat sodas, a water bottle and some snacks. When we go out on our own, especially in strong winds, I carry my cell phone in a Pelican case. Last night, during Club racing, I carried my waterproof camera.
What do others carry?
