I'm getting ready to sell a 1989 Hobie 18 that has a set of SX wings with brand new tramps. Are people finding it better to sell the wings separately and then ask less for the boat without them, or having better luck selling them together? I'm about to reinstall the main tramp and need to make a decision before that because of the wing mounting bolts.

Thanks,

Mark

I think people are more inclined to buy a boat with wings for the higher dollar amount...

Wings are a challenge to ship.....
I have pictures of how mine were shipped in from California....
and later, I had to re-rivet them together, all 48 rivets.
My suggestion, for what it's worth, is to sell with wings.

If you were closer to the North East, I'd be interested in the wings. I think there's definitely a market for stand alone wings. They're somewhat rare now that you can't get them from Hobie anymore. The shipping is definitely an issue though- not small or light.

You might try selling just the wings. If no hits after a few weeks, then no one local is searching for them. Then take down the wing post and post the boat with wings. If mounting hardware included make sure to show it and mention it.
