The starboard rear mount point for wings has a long 1/2" diameter stainless steel slug that fits into the rear crossbar. It's longer than the other three mount point slugs and I can't figure out how to remove it. Any great ideas?

Thanks!

Mark

I'm pretty sure you have to drill out the rivets on the corner casting and remove the casting to get that slug out.
My 18 is a standard (non-magnum) and it has this slug - presumably installed by the factory in the event that the boat would ever have magnum wings installed. I think this slug is longer so that it can bridge the opening for the tramp.

Thanks, I hope that's not the case! My other option (so far) is to lengthen the opening area just enough to get it out.

Removing the corner casting is no biggie. Just drill out three rivets and pop it off. I'd certainly do that before grinding the opening larger.

Why do you want it out?

I'm selling the wings and need to give the hardware to the buyer.

I would have the buyer check to see if the slug is already installed in his boat. Like I said, I think this is something that may have ended up being installed in all the crossbars by the factory, so it's possible that it's already there. I know it's on my '85 boat and that has never had magnum wings. Keep in mind that it may be hidden behind the hull saddle. It would certainly be worth a look.

That's an excellent idea! I'll ask the buyer to see if it's already on his boat.

Thanks!

Ok, the buyer's boat didn't have the long slug so I just bit the bullet and removed the casting. It wasn't too big of a deal after all.

Thanks Everyone for the help!

Mark
