In the process of refinishing my 1981 h18 and noticed that when moving the hulls around something was in the hulls. I know that there is supposed to be foam in each hull but when rolling the hulls the existing foam feels heavy like sand bags instead of foam. Is it possible for this foam to take on weight? The boat has been indoors for the winter. Any ideas

There are 2 large, detached blocks of polysyrene foam inside each hull to keep your hobie afloat in case the hull gets compromised.

If the boat has been indoors for the winter, then the foam has probably had a chance to dry out. They are pretty big, so they can clunk around a bit when moving the hull.

Short story - don't worry about it.
