Any one have DIY tramp repair solution? I've got a small tare started at the rear of my port tramp. It's a mesh type tramp. The tare is right near the hull connection rope. I'm thinking about trying to sew it, but unsure if it will hold. Any input? I know I should buy a new one, but I can't help but try to repair something first. Just call me cheap |

What I've done before with great results is to un-tension the tramp, mask off the area ( top AND bottom ) then mix up some epoxy resin letting it saturate into the fabric around the tear. After a day or two, remove the tape and tension up the tramp as normal. Won't tear in that area anymore! |

That's the kind of idea I'm looking for. I can see that working quite well, maybe even add a layer of glass on the bottom. Thanks. Anyone else have any wisdom |

I had a similar rip in the same place. I removed the tramp and sewed a strip of webbing onto the back side. Has held up for years. Sent from my GT-N8013 using Tapatalk |

Not what you're looking for... but I cut my main halyard off and made a web as my port panel ripped apart during the first race of the year... it held up ok and kept the panel from ripping anymore, a nice lattice using the existing grommet holes. I've replaced tramp straps with sail needles and line, and had a sail shop make some patches for me for more permenant solutions. The bigger question to consider is what the rest looks like... if everything is about to go, then a new tramp or newer tramp is probably in order. Tom |
