I recently bought a new tiller crossbar for my 1980 Hobie 18 from Murrays marine. Part is a Hobie OEM part. When I attempted to install it, I realized that the yoke assembly was canted 30 to 40 degrees. Looking at my old crossbar, it seemed to have a slight cant, but not nearly as much as new part. Is my new crossbar defective? If not, which way should it cant? (fore or aft). If it is defective, what is the remedy? Obviously I can't re-position yoke as this would significantly weaken crossbar, so would I re-position ends? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...

The yoke leans / cants forward. The drawing has always shown this as 30 degrees.

The tiller needs to rest easily on the trampoline with the rudders up or down, so we angle the yoke forward to easily hinge the tiller downward in all crossbar positions.
