I’m going to make a jib cover for my H18 SE. Would anyone know the dimensions of the material I need to purchase?

From what I have read and found available for purchase, there is a difference in lengths and widths yet I don't know why. I plan on running a zipper down to the furler and then a few snaps to finish it off.

Also, any advise on the material type? I would like this to last for 4- 5 years. The boat is used in the Northeast so the jib is up for about 4 months.

Thanks for the help.
Tom

We used the "snuffer" or "sock" on our new-to-us 18SX jib last summer. Our experience wasn't good...and it seems to me that the more experienced H-18 sailers, than I, say "Take her down! Take her down! Take her down!"

Our SX jib was worn last season. It shredded at seasons end...and the snuffer is to damaged to be repaired. We have a new to us jib...and we are going to "Take her down!" We park it on Lake Michigan's south end, probably like Buffalo, and the winds are just too unpredicatably gusty.

That's enough out of me.

I would second that thought. In my opinion it does not take much more time to remove the jib then to cover it. I just take it down now and I have not noticed any extra time used up either when going out or returning.
