i bought a hobie 18 last summer, ('89 hull#ccmh4054m81c), and would like to play with some other cats. i love my bout very much and would find it hard to go back to a mono-hull. i don't know if there are any of you close to me, but i am willing to travel a little to enjoy the company of others. i have plenty of islands to play on if anyone wants to come here. anyway, lots of luck to you all and be safe.

Joshua,

First off, Congratulations on your "new toy". There is a fantastic group of sailors there near Biloxie @ Ocean Springs Yacht Club.
Try www.OSYC.com for the website.
Their faculity got wiped out by Katrina, but they have rallied and will be rebuilding soon. I am not sure, but they may have mast up storage available with a membership, and it seemed to me that a membership was really quite reasonable. It would be worth your time to reach out and see what your options are with them.
I attended a Midwinters there a few years back and had a blast.
I am traveling all the way from Colorado for the Panama City event and will be coming right thru Biloxie on the way. If you can see your way clear to make the Panama City Midwinter event, meet me on the road and we can caravan on to Panama City.
Brad and the Sunjammers crew put on a great event that is a lot of fun, and it will be a great opportunity for you to spend a weekend with a group of other 18 sailors from all over the country. There is no substitute for spending a weekend with a group of people that have boats just like yours.

get a hold of Jerome Vaughan Jackson, MS 601-924-2947. He can point you in the right direction. He will also be at MWE this year!

Its not that Crowded!

The 18 fleet is not that big a piece of the pie.

Trust me, We will find one another.

Get er done and come out and play with us.

Meet some 18 sailors from around the country, some from your neck of the woods, and the local dealer in Panama City. Brad is a great guy.

I Guarantee, it will be worth the effort... I mean really, I drive all the way from Colorado!!!! But then I should be enjoying spring skiing here <Chuckle> I guess you take Sailing in Florida for granted the same way I take Spring Skiing for granted.
