Post subject: | Side Stays ... Tension / tighteness |
I bought and older 18 1989 or so. I broke one of the mast hull side stays / cable and made another using micropress and wire. What should the tension look like after dropping the traveler / port then stabard, sheeting down, and adjusting stay. I did this and when sail is up with with boat sitting on beach in the wind, both stays are a little slak. Any rough gusses out there? |

The rig should be tight while sitting on the beach. A loose rig can increase the wear and damage the rig as it flops around. Slack then snapped tight wires can break hardware. |
