rivets pulling on loader.

The riveted foot on my loader just dropped off. Does anyone have a fix?

so here's what I did. I used a couple of short 3/8 well nuts and put it back on. We'll see if it holds.

We also changed the rivets to a split type / bulb type.

The rivets on mine popped out if I looked at them the wrong way, replaced them with the new style, Will try them this weekend but they seem to be holding much tighter than the old ones did

Well, that didn't work. Popped the first time loading. Guess I'll just use this till it falls apart completely then buy a new one. Maybe by then, Hobie will have figured out something that works for a part that is absolutely necessary. bummer.

Tried it out two times this last weekend after replacing all the original rivets with the new style and no issues for the first time

The rivet on my Compass loader broke the first time I used it, and the weight of the kayak came down on the rudder. I thought the rudder broke, but it was ok. I think the likelihood of damage to the rudder is lower without the loader.

Thr rivet popped out of my Compass loader the first time I used it and the kayak almost broke the rudder. It seems safer fot the rudder to not use the loader.

Mine popped out too, it’s unfortunate that they sell it that way but since I replaced the rivets with the new type I’ve used it 20 times and it’s still perfect and I don’t baby it.
They really should fix them before selling them, almost useless as they come

We had replaced all of the rivets for stock on hand and changed what the vendor uses when building them some time ago. This should not be a recurring problem.

I took the loader back to the Hobie dealer and they repaired it using the correct rivet. I used it once so far and it held up. Hobie is lucky to have a great dealer in Hawaii; Stan is awesome.

I don't think a rivet is a long term solution here. What I did was drill a hole on the opposite side of the rivet ,large enough to get a large washer inside the loader. Placed a stainless screw and a nut with washers and this has held up very well .

It is a special kind of rivet that is like a molly screw for drywall. Works very well. No washers are required.

I can testify that it’s been a non issue since I replaced the original rivets with the new type, and I don’t baby it.
They do the job
