I am looking at buying my first 16. The one I found seems solid. Hulls are solid. With my inspection I can see day light shinning thru the fiberglass along the bottom of the hull, is this normal? where the rudder mounts to the hulls are craked is this a easy fix? I think fiberglass repair and installing gudgeons are in order. Please Advise. Thanks Todd Christian |

Hi Todd- you are certain to get a lot of replies from the many repair oriented persons here. Would you clarify how you noticed ...."day light shinning thru the fiberglass along the bottom of the hull" - I'm thinking that you looked through deck ports correct? If so, yeah, that is pretty normal from beaching, and easily attended to- look around the forum for tips on building up the keels. And have a Hobie day! |

Yes the inspection was with deck port and the drain plugs. Is there any thing else I truley need to look at I want!!! This CAT!!! The Seller is not a Hobie sailor I have worked out that I want to take her out before a final price can be reached. I just don't want a 16 foot piece of driftwood. Todd "IF there is no wind row." |

If, when you say the hulls near the rudders are cracked, you mean this: then I'm pretty sure that's just cosmetic. To "fix" it I just mixed up some epoxy and dribbled it around the cracks and smeared it on the inside of those holes. |
