I have this 2 part paint.. some sort of base, then the paint, I was told to spray on this base first let it dry then paint the boat.. its made for our h16's I bought it at a hobie dealer in Austin texas. should I gelcoat first or will this paint give me a finished look when it dries..? |

Two part paint? I always understood that a two part paint is, two parts mixed together to make the paint. Usually the pigment and the drying agent. I seriously think you need to do some more research with whoever sold you the paint. If you are unsure of what to do, do not do it. It can become a nasty experience, and a real pain in the butt to repair. |

No.... its a one part paint.... It's a Pre-Coat Primer for polyurathane paint, then you put the polyurathane paint, no mixing... it supposed to seal and bond and give a little extra strength. |

Do you know how many access ports the h16 can structurally take? 2 or 3 per side or just one? |

AAAHHHHH!! OK! yep that is what I did to my boat. Painted her with poly. I love the finished product, although the paint I used was a two stage paint. I did apply a light coat of primer, sanded her down to smooth the coat off. Then applied the polyurethane coat. Robi, what kind of hull work did you do before you pianted it? I have such delamination that i pretty much had had to poke holes on average every 3 inches accross the top and sides of my pontoons, I have one nearly finished and it is turning out to be rock hard. |

what kind of paint did you use on your frame and corner pieces? and does it hold up pretty good in the water? |

All the paint used is poly-urethane. All the paint has helled up great in the conditions. As far as hull work all I did was put some epoxy on the bottom of the hulls. Rough up the gelcoat, prime and paint. As far as soft spots, there are NON on this boat. I guess I am just lucky. She is a 83 and extremely dry, hard and stiff. Oh she is still for sale.
