Hi all,

I have a 1979 Hobie 16 with 5:1 Seaway mainsheet blocks, and I am unsure of how to correctly reeve them.

Here is a diagram of the blocks. I would really appreciate it if someone is able to draw on it with step-by-step arrows showing how to reeve it. And the icing on the cake would be if someone could explain the general principles for how to figure out how to reeve blocks.

In order to avoid any questions about ignoring prior posts, I already looked at this one:

But even the definitive image (link below) is unclear to me - I can't tell the order in which it is threaded.

Becket of aft upper block to aft side of double block (doesn't matter which side)

to aft side of forward single block

to forward side of double block (side you didn't use before)

to forward side of aft upper block

to aft side of ratchet block.

I always thought it was a 4:1. 4 pulleys and the 1 at the end with the break.
