Hey there CTSailor

I just looked over my trailer and can't find a VIN. So my buddy and I looked over the trailer he uses for his Harley's- no VIN  But we both have registration documentation that we have used for years. What the??

Here in our county we are pretty sure that there really is only ONE legally registered license plate anyway. You only move your boat or camper on the weekend when it's your turn to use the plate...

Anyone else have an answer? ...

To get my trailer plate in Mississippi, I just needed my "recipt" for the puchase. Dunno. We'll see what it's like here in TX. :o

Vin?

Most trailers have a sticker that has a vin number on it. The actual metalwork is not numbered. Our current trailers are supplied to dealers with a Certificate of origin and a sticker with the vin. Of course some dealers might not stick it on the trailer and stickers can peel off. Normally these stickers are placed up front on the tongue or frame just aft of the tongue.

Hey CTSailor,

I don't have access to my trailer to check for my VIN. But in VA, there is a way to register a homebuilt trailer...which obviously would NOT have a VIN. Don't know if CT does as well, but it might be worth a check.

Good luck,
