Post subject: | Some more shroud questions |
I will be adding another chainplate to my forestay for more rake and was under the impression I needed to order shrouds for a 17 because they were shorter, but according to the shroud sizes I saw on this site they are the same 18'11". ????? Also ,should I go ahead and replace the jib luff wire or does a new jib come with one. If I do replace the jib luff wire I noticed two different sizes with about a foot in difference. Which one should I get? |

Hobie 16 and Hobie 17 side shrouds are the same. If you are wanting to replace all of your wires get a H16 wire set, it comes with all of your standing rigging and single trap, new jib halyard....the works! Your new jib will come with a luff wire, not sure about putting a new one in, just use your old on as a templet if you are going to make one, but unless it is broken I would leave it along, remember your jib luff wire actually holds all the tension on a H16. Hope this helps, the wire set will run less that $190 bucks and is 5/32 black coated, it is defiantly the way to go! May I also add this: get the shrouds from a Hobie Dealer. Last year I ordered shrouds from Murray's and they were a little over an inch longer than the Hobie stock shrouds I was replacing (off of a 2000 model year 16). When I got the Hobie factory replacements, they were an exact match. |
