Post subject:  Help with rigging on an old Hobie

I bought a 1978 Hobie 16 and downloaded the Hobie 16 Assembly manual (copyright 1980) from the web site - but there are some differences.

The manual shows a mast tang with two holes, but my mast tang only has one hole. Where does the shackle holding the trapeze wires go?

The manual shows the large shackle with 3 wires: the 2 shrouds and the forestay (which appears to consist of an upper pig-tail and a lower forestay). However, my large shackle has 4 wires in it: 2 shrouds, a full-length forestay, and a pig-tail attached to the jib block (with no lower forestay). What's up with this?

Is there any place I could get the appropriate manual for my 1978 Hobie 16?

Thanks.

Single eye mast tang. (left to right) trapwire, shoud, forestay, jib halyard, shroud, trapwire. If you don't know how old the rigging is, both standing and running I would consider replacing them. I would get in contact with someone from fleet 20 or fleet 240 I'm sure they would help you out. both fleets are having fun sails on weekends. Or a hobie dealer in your area.
