Hi,
Is it against the class rules to mill a slot into the upper rudder casting and buy the parts to make my rudders adjustable?

It shouldn't be since this is now the current class legal variant. Hobie sells a kit to do it if you want.

Hey Rick
I made one of my castings adjustable by drilling out the original pin and then elongating the hole. I placed a bolt of the same diameter as the pin through hole and then tightened it into position after I set the rudder for proper rake. I did this as a crud experiment with an extra casting I had. I did not have the proper mill tooling so one problem that this method has is that it has a tendency to move around a little and needs readjustment. If you have the ability to mill this slot with the proper tooling you would get better results. I raced A fleet with it and nobody complained, but we weren’t exactly winning either!

I looked for the retrofit kit that drej mentioned in his reply, without luck. Anybody know where to find this kit?

Mike
