pilons problem

I have a H16 with a problem of a slight movement between the hulls
and the trampolin casting.
It is not a critical movement but I'm afraid that it's going to get worse
in the future.
Does anybody know a way to correct it.

If there is movement in the pylon to casting connection you can shim with something as simple as aluminum can material or even glue it with epoxy. If the movement is in the pylon to hull connection that is a different story and would require access to the inside of the hull. The pylon seats in a "shoe" inside the hull. The "shoe" can be filled with a laminating resin to re-bond the connection. If the shoe is loose, it can be glassed back into place. Internal problems should be corrected before sailing the boat again. Looseness in the casting connection is not critical to the structure of the boat.

Glue?

Yes, some people epoxy the pylons into the corner casting... but that is somewhat permanant. There are possible ways to prevent permanant bonding, but it can be difficult to get apart again. You must be sure that the boat is square and aligned. You get one chance at it.

Be... Yes you can glue the pylon back in place. Matt Miller described the course of action. Cut and access hole in the deck of the hull close to the loose pylon. Inspect and identify the problem (could be that the pylon is loose in the shoe, could be that the whole shoe is loose). In any case the defect could be repaired with epoxy and some glass if needed. Check out the catsailor forum... pic are posted that show a hobie hull cut in sections. The pics show the pylon and the shoe. I guess this will help to make more sense. Patrick
