Post subject:  Disassembly of Hobie

I disassembled my Hobie 16 in preparation for hurricane Rita. Hulls have to be stored out doors, everything else is in my shop. It came apart easier than I thought, No stuck bolts, etc. Hopfully I will still have a
boat after the storm. Is there any particular order or method for reassembly. I had already planned on replacing the standing rigging. but need to know any or all special tricks for putting my cat back together.
Thanks

First, best of luck with Rita. We went through 3 of the 4 hurricanes that hit Florida last year here in the central part of the state. My 16 was destroyed by an oak tree falling on it. Congratulations on your foresight to disassemble yours.

The assembly instructions are available here:

I have never rebuilt a Hobie but the parts of the instructions I have used are quite good. The only complaint I have heard is that many of the photos are far too dark for good clarity.

Hang in there – you will be in our thoughts.

Best of luck with Rita.

Just put is back togeather the opposite way you took her apart. It is fairly intuitive and if you have sailed her much you will know if somthing isn't right. The 16 is pretty simple to assemble. The hard part is aligning the hulls and squaring the boat. There is a good thread in this forum about that.

Good luck and be safe.
