Post subject: | Strange Serial Number? |
I am looking at purchasing an '82 Hobie 16. However, the serial number format seems to be at odds with the way hobie says they should appear. I can't find anymore info on Hobie S/ns anywhere. On this hobie it reads CCMQ6086M 82F, with an NI or N1 or NL on a second line under the 60. Is this a standard format for 1982 hobies?? What's up? Any ideas? The sail number is 65xxx, which seems right for an 82, right? |

Your boat is a 1982. Make sure that the hulls are solid and everything else seams to be there Let me know if you have any questions, there is nothing worse than buying a boat for a few hundred dollars only to find out it need $1,000 worth of parts and $1000 worth of glass work, Not saying I don't like to sell parts just normally the parts are more than the boat is worth! What you may have is either a replacement hull (which are required to have the same serial # as the other hull). Do the hulls have the same amount of wear / fading / discoloration? If not, what happened to the original hull and what else broke? The 65xxx sail is definitely in line with it's age. My third 16 was an '84 with an '83 sail - #74722. |
