My old top sheeve is getting shot. I want to make a couple of new ones on my lathe.

Are they Derlin or what?

I don't want to upgrade to the new style. First because I like the look of the singel sheeve and because I don't want a black tip on a silver mast and because I want to keep my boat vintage.

I believe they are aluminum or SS. The SS wire would tear up a Delrin sheave really quickly.

Yes they are made from some type of plastic... not sure what it is.
I would guess most of the maschienable plastics would do the job well. The old pullies die from sunlight and old age. If the one you are fabricating lasts as long as the one in your masttop, it probabely excedes the lifespan of the hobie. Aluminum might be a suitable material as well. At least this is what was used on my old mono hull.
