Lets say a mid 80s 16 vs a late 2000's 16. Does the extra weight of the older Hobie provide an advantage?

I've never righted a new hobie 16, only my old one, so I'm just curious if anybody has experience with both.

I would guess it wouldn't be a noticeable difference assuming the masts are watertight and you use the same righting strategy.
