Post subject:  Recommendations for Jib sheet

Howdy folks,

I have a '79 Hobie 16 with the the old jib blocks and push-button car in the slot riveted to the front crossbar. Both my crew (everyone who sails with me) and I find it difficult to release the jib without crawling over to release the cleat...not fun in heavy weather.

I've seen several upgrades offered by Murrays and Hobie. Any suggestions. I was thinking that new low profile swivel blocks, and a system to control the location of the block in the track would be a good setup. I guess this means you have more lines to manage, but at least it can be done from any location on the tramp.

Love to hear your advice....it's been great to date. Thanks.

The #1075 cars and a lance cleat traveler system.

The #1075 cars has a swivel cleat monuted on the car. That keeps the cleat angle consistant and "up-release" which makes it easier.

All are on page 36 of the 2003 Hobie Cat parts catalog.

Thanks as always "M".

I think I'll give them a try....let you know how it goes.

By the way, what does the M stand for.
