Wire lengths were changed back in 1982. Shrouds got shorter and the forestay got longer. There have been a few more adjustments since.

No problem for you though. The forestay on a 16 is only used to hold the mast up till you rig the jib. The jib luff wire IS the real forestay. The other wire should never hold a load while sailing and is commonly VERY slack.

Question about forestay slack after raising the jib: Is there any easy/good way to keep the slack in the forestay from rubbing on the luff of the jib while sailing :?: I met a guy from Santa Cruz sailing in the Alamitos Bay Memorial Day regatta who had tied a bungie to hold down the excess and this seemed to be a good idea :). Anybody else got any ideas :?:

Hey Gato,

I keep my jib luff clipped to the forestay. Don't know if that helps but there's no rubbing. You may not want to put holes in that new jib. :( Am I going to see you tomorrow? Hope so. Talk to ya later.

Happy Sailing,

David

P.S. I think I have more pics for you.
