Hi everyone,

I wrote into the forum 2 weeks ago looking for a 16 to buy in Washington State and thanks to all that responded. I found a beauty 1980 model in what looks to be in great shape. One issue i have noticed, and would like some advice on, is in regards to some small cracks I found where the adjustable upper rudder castings are monted to the hulls.

My question is, do these cracks have to be sealed and is this a major problem? I've looked on a few local hobies that all seem to have this same cracking around the upper rudder where it mounts to the hulls.

Thanks in advace for your help,

GC

Small gel cracks are very typical in this area of the boat. If the cracks are deeper then you need to see how ddep and decide from there. I would GUESS that they are just spider cracks in the gel

Hey,

Thanks drummer63, the cracks are spider cracks in the gel. It is very solid, I just wanted to make sure and tackle the problem while the hobie is out of the water, if need be.

Thanks as always!

GC.
