Do most people's Hobie 16 masts clear the back of their vehicle or will I need to raise the mast post on the trailer somehow? If so does anyone have pictures?

I tow with an F150, but there is no clearance issues. The mast doesn't extend past the front of the trailer.

move the mast holder closer to the boat, this will steepen the angle the mast rest on the trailer/boat.

Took a look today...welded in place. I bought the boat yesterday. It's a 1974 or older, sail pattern is a 1972.

I guess I will build a wood block to u-bolt to the mast support to increase the pitch.

I was thinking it would be like the others, that bolts down........ you could have it cut off, weld a plate to the bottom, then "U" bolt it down closer. Or just cut and re-weld .

My mast support can be altered (I added an extension myself to the mount where the winch is for a regular boat). Anyway, it used to clear the box on my half ton, but now that I have an Xterra, my mast does not clear the roof.

I was too much in a rush when I noticed, so I let the mast stick out further behind the boat so that it would clear the rear window and put a red flag at the end sticking out to be legal. But I only tow my boat twice a year, in the spring to bring it to the lake and back in the fall to bring it home. I'll fix it before bringing it home.

One way to extend it is to find tubing that would fit over the existing tubing. Cut the post, slide the extension and bolt it in.

Just to update. The mast fits above the roof of the Rav4 but when driving out of a driveway it bumps the roof crossbars.
