I want to mount a pair of swivel cam cleats I bought on the front cross bar of a 1980 Hobie with the old style jib spring set up that does not lock or release for beans. From you experts out there who resolved this, where should I mount it with SS screws relative to the mast (how far out)? AND someone mentioned on a post that 15 degrees helped it work more effectively to release. Which way was the 15 degrees, toward the bow or the stern relative to right on top of the cross bar? THANKS !
