I'm planning on modifying mine, but I'm thinking I'll try to find a triple to hang from the boom to make it a 6:1.

if you find a single seaway you can bolt it to the double to make a triple.

The only rope on a Hobie Cat is the bolt rope of the main sail. The rest are lines. I corrected a deputy sheriff at the boat ramp the other day as he called his dock line a rope. I got a dirty look from him too.

I just have a bunch of strings on my boat, some are sort of streachie, some are black and not very streachie at all, one is red and white, it goes to the big cloth like thing with the aluminum pole on the bottom.

I thought about that, but found a triple on eBay, which should make it a cleaner and easier upgrade. Here's the block I purchased: http://www.ebay.com/itm/330379223913?ss ... 520wt_1115

I'll post an update once I get the swap done. Any input on a snap shackle to use to secure that triple block to the boom?

Man, I had the hardest time watching you guys rip off screaming tack after tack from the beach! We had been out all day and pulled into the beach RIGHT when you guys were launching. Unfortunately our 7 month old was ready to leave at that point, as was my wife, so we had to pack up and head home.

Glad you guys are ok from your dunking. When are you going again?

I'm a definite maybe, not sure if I'll be able to get away from work or not.

I'll just pull my boat up if I can get away and there's no room.

Just to keep this thread rolling sorta on topic. I scored some 12mm hole climbing bolt hangars off Amazon the other day. Worked perfect no boring out the hole bigger! Highly recommend for tying down 16's!

I got some 1/2" longer SS bolts and nylock nuts, ditching the old crusty nylon nuts. The stock bolts were just a hair short of engaging the nylock portion on the nuts.

Hope you can make it Friday!

Nice work, I really love having those anchors on the pylons, they're useful for all kinds of stuff (like locking the rudders down for trailering).

Here's a pic of my finished setup with the ratchet straps installed:

Quick question, does my swivel cam cleat look bent to anyone else?

I haven't been able to find a good pic of it on another boat, but it seems like the plate they're mounted to is bent down, which makes adjusting the traveller position difficult.

Yes its bent way down. Mine has a ton of slop in the pivot which lets it hang down (not that far!) and its a pita to adjust sometimes too. I find myself cleating it with my foot! When you going out again?? Gonna lemme know this time!? May head to Waldo for a day or 2 if I can rally the troops this weekend. There is a bunch of Hobies from PDX up there for the next several days.

Thanks for the feedback guys, not sure how that happened, and I don't see any signs of fatigue in the metal. There's a lot of UV damage to the mounting base, so I'm just going to replace the whole thing with new parts.

Sorry I didn't let you know I was heading up, I figured you wouldn't be interested in going on Labor Day weekend! No Waldo trip for me, we have a wedding to go to so our weekend is full already.
