Ok I almost have her ready to get wet. I got the new shrouds on but Im unsure if my rake looks ok. I have 7 hole adjusters and Im on the 6th hole down from top. Problem I see is I only have one hole left to pull jib forward. Also im unsure on how tight I should have everything. Thoughts! |

Because you have a furling jib, the rigging should be tight. As far as if your racking is right or not, you need to hoist the main and check if you can go block to block. If you go block to block without the main being tight, you're racked too much, if you cannot go block to block, you can rake a bit more. |

Ok here are a few shots with main up. After I got it up and pulled the blocks together I looked up at comp tip and it was really leaning out. Its not loose or anything. How much flex will it have? I sealed it a few weeks ago and everything was still in place. you can see what im talking about in a few pics.. |

Just to give you an idea of max mast rake, check out this photo from the recent Hobie 16 North Americans in San Francisco: You should have more mast rake, but the way you have your mainsheet rigged is preventing you from doing that. The easiest way to fix that is to get a low-profile mainsheet system, but that's probably more than you want to spend. A no-cost minor fix is to reverse the blocks on the boom - put the one with the becket on the aft hanger, not the forward one: The bend in the Comptip is not a big deal. They are much more flexible than the aluminum mast. |

It's possible you have older and longer shrouds like my boat did. When I bought new shrouds last year, they were shorter than the original which allowed for more mast rake. I converted my double-stack lower block to a single stack using this: http://www.hobiecat.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7964&hilit=Reeving |
