New member here,

I am a long time converted monohull sailor. I live in Austin and am beginning a new career as a school teacher. The school district is allowing us to bring in a new project for shop class. We had a Hobie owner donate a early 80s Hobie 16 earlier this week. I picked the HOBIE 16, It looks good, aside from the soft hull decks, faded tramps and no mast, boom, rigging or sails. The good news, is that we have been offered another Hobie 16, this time 100 miles away. At least I now have a trailer that is set up to carry the boat. The trailer just needs minor wiring and some paint. The new boat is said to also include a mast and some of the rigging. Is there any cure for soft hull tops, Injections of foam, what do you suggest....

We are hoping to get a school sponser, but that has failed in the past. Is there any group that you know of that might donate, or sell a VERY used set of sails for a Hobie 16?

Thank you for your time.
Lane K. Thomas
Austin ISD.
