Post subject:  Extremely hard to raise main.

Hello all,
I have a 1980 H16 and I am having to use way too much force to raise the main sail. This boat is new to me and previous boat had a comp tip with I raised without a problem. I believe the problem is in the main halyard wire and getting the 2 stops over the pulley. I don't plan on reefing the main and am thinking about taking of the first stop. Any suggestions????
Thanks in advance,
Dennis

For the all-Al mast, it helps to pull from way forward near the bridle until the nicopress fittings get clear through the masthead. Not sure why, but they tend to get hung up in there if you pull more downward like you can with a comp tip.

Read the sail hoist FAQ... should answer the question.
