Hi - Not sure if my first effort at posting this went through last night, so here we go again... First time posting, have been lurking for a while. We've been dinghy (Laser) sailing for years, as well as bigger keel boats. We've decided to sell the dinghy and buy a good condition Hobie 16, since my wife sailed one as a kid and we'd like to get our kids cat sailing now, too. We're on vacation now, and saw this one very nearby. Grateful for any comments (ASAP, as I'm due to check her out this afternoon). http://sacramento.craigslist.org/boa/3206064607.html Thanks. |

Depends on the Hulls. Look them over very carefully for soft spots. Read up here if you dont know what a soft spot is! If the hulls are solid, and everything is there...Id toss 750 at him and see if he bites. |

Pics wouldn't load for me for some reason. But keep in mind that the hulls, frame, and mast are the most critical and expensive items, and corrosion and soft spots are the killers of these parts. Inspect them very carefully and do not hesitate to pass on the boat if these parts are in bad shape. $900 boats are usually on the "iffy" side and typically, at the very least, require several hundred bucks just to get up to sailing shape. sm |

Looks rather clean and good in the pics! As previously stated, check for any soft spots in the hulls. ANY soft spots is a no-go. Also check to see that the mast is straight. Good luck, Jim. |
