I have an original style mast on my 16. The plastic roller in the sheave has reached the end of its life. The Sheave for the old style is no longer available from Hobie.

Can someone tell me if the new style sheave will fit on the old mast ?

You can install a Comptip mast head on an old mast, but you'll need a new halyard because the distance between the shackle and halyard slug is different.

There was a forum thread about some one who made replacement sheaves for older style mast heads - use the search function.

Last year I had contacted the guy who owns Zephyrwerks Sheave factory who said he would make me one if I sent him the old one. I didn't have one to send without taking my boat out of service. Another guy at the forum here made his own out of a plastic cutting board or something. Not sure he is prepared to supply the fleet though. Too bad there isn't a fabrication drawing around somewhere.

Could even get by without a drawing with these measurements:
- diameter of the sheave
- diameter of the hole
- thickness
- depth of the groove
