I'm very new to the Hc16. The other day I was out alone, when wind which had been around 5kts suddenly picked up to over 20kts, to avoid capsizing I was letting my sails luff and made my way back to land. Next problem was to actually dock it, which was a nightmare to put it mildly. At one point I thought of trying to lower my main sail (not reefing, rather completely lowering it), but was not too certain on how the Hc16 would behave using only the jib, any one have any ideas about this? |

Gist is, no, the Hobie 16 is very difficult to sail on jib alone. It will not tack and can not sail well upwind. |
