Answers is: We have a range of weights that are acceptable for rudders, so there is no set weight to quote on an EPO3.
Class minimum weight and outline for rudders was intended to prohibit a sailor from building rudders under weight and under / over size. This is not a guide that we are required to match or can match. The min-weight was set when boats had single trap and much less rake. Current rudder loads are MUCH higher, so rudders need to be built tougher. We have learned, over many years, how to make them last.
Shape is now locked in using C&C cut alloy molds. Layup and resin weights in glass products always vary slightly.
FYI... Standard Nylon rudders are about 6.5 LBS. Foils are inconsistent and they flex. This is why fiberglass rudders exist. Labor and materials dictate costs.
