Ram Mount makes a sweet cup (beer) holder. Should not be too tough to figure out a mounting arrangement.

As college student and a sailor, I have had my fair share of drinking experiences. That being said, drinking on a sailboat that small and unstable is an extremely bad idea, especially with how fast Hobie 16's are and how easily they pitch pole, no matter how good you are. Everyone knows sailing can be a dangerous sport, but we never are thinking about it when we set out. I remember when Olivia Constants died 2 years ago, although that was on 420's, there were crash boats present and she was pulled out of the water in minuets, but it was still too late. I knew her from dingy racing the fall before she died. When you throw drinking into the mix, it makes it that much more dangerous. I have seen a mast from a Condor 40 be bent and ultimately be broken, injuring a crew member, because just a few of the sailors on board were drinking, and I'm ashamed i called some of them my friends. Drinking on a hobie is just a bad idea, it slows your reaction time and it impairs your judgment. You wouldn't drink and drive would you?

Thanks for the warning... I've sailed for the past 40 tears. Ocean racing, light wind crusing, Great Lakes night crossings and even raced the Mackinac races. If its happened on the water, I've likely seen it. Have even taught sailing classes. Safety has always been paramount. All in moderation.. A beer or two spanning the evening will be fine for the afternoon/evening cruise. Not talking about the post race scene.

Wether a cold beer, a soda or bottle of water (gotta stay hydrated) - just looking for a somewhat simple solution to carry a beverage.

I feel your pain. I'm new to these forums but a decorated beer veteran. Possible cures for your disability ie lack of 3rd beer hand.
1. Giving priority to heaving to.
2. Beer mate.
3. Camel Beer Back.
4. Duck tape a 32 oz keg to the mast. 8 foot hose with nozzle.
5. No more than 100 yds from beach.
6. Explain to wife that she now has a 2nd obligation.

Never allow my wife to read this.
