Hey gang, long time lurker here first time poster :D Looking to upgrade my old Seaway blocks. Question is that I've seen a lot of debate on here as to which setup to go with. Some say 57mm Harken, others say 40mm is fine. My H16 is a 1984 that has the Aussie jib, shorter shrouds, 6:1 down haul, and low profile jib blocks. The main blocks and the rudders are the last things to do..

If I go 57mm, are the 2604/2617 combo a good selection ?
If I go 40mm, are the 2642/2647 combo a good choice?

Thanks in advance,
Matt

The preferred lower block is the Harken 194. Unfortunately, it's no longer in production.

The Harken 2612 is the replacement (57 mm, triple ratchet)

For the upper block, smaller is better (=more mast rake)

Use a Harken 2640 (40 mm triple).

None of the blocks you listed are appropriate.
The 2604 is too big.
The 2617 does not have a ratchet.
The 2642 is a double block without a swivel.
The 2647 does not have a ratchet.

Thanks for the reply. I checked on the 2612 and it's listed as 40mm w/ratchet. So based on your reply, its better to go with the 40mm setup for additional mast rake?

Cheers
Matt

194 on ebay...spendy but its nos.
I found a complete 6:1 setup on ebay 194/? for about 175$ last year. I DO NOT miss the old seaway setup at all.
