Post subject:  Hobie 16 Weight

Hello Everybody,

I was wondering what tip and tricks are out there for reducing boat weight. We are a youth team (combined weight 270) have a newer h16. I have heard cutting the execs bolt off of the bottom of the tang bolt and and the shroud bars. Taking the coating off standing rigging could also help. Any tips? Thanks in advance,

John

What does your boat weigh?

A newer 16 should be very close to minimum weight (320#).

You might be able to shave a couple of pounds off by getting rid of excess stuff, but you're not going to be able to take off any significant weight.

Use the shortest length sheets and smallest diameter sheets you can can buy with.......... Cut any bolts, cut excess rope from the tramp lacing.......... Clean out inside of hulls, Take a huge Poop before the race!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
