I have to say the tapered sheet is very cool. I don't have a problem with my regular mainsheet, but I'm almost tempted to try it just for the cool factor.

However, I'm wondering why it's tapered the way it seems to be. The only time you have a lot of sheet tension is when you're close-hauled. Reaching, we're traveled out and beyond that there isn't much sheet tension anyway. How about a thinner mainsheet everywhere other than a tapered fat section where you grab it close-hauled? No need to carry around a bunch of heavy line at the traveler end, right? Could you just use a thinner sheet and pull some extra core through it for the few feet that we want better grip on?

I love my NE Salsa, really easy on the hands, and no problem engaging the ratchet. Let me know if you want to borrow it for a day to check it out.
