| Post subject: | Seam repair where hull meets cap |
Hi, I have a crack in the seam where the hull is connected to the cap. About 3' long. What is the best way to prepare this area? Will I need file and clean both surfaces before rebonding it. What is the best material to use. Thanks for your help in advance. Mike H. |

Pretty sure this has been covered in detail previously. Search for "hull-deck seam split" Basically, you should clean out any broken bits, use thickened epoxy (WEST G-Flex) injected into the crack w/ slight vacuum on the hull (small shop vac) to help draw it in, then clamp and let the epoxy go off. Leak test (fix leaks). Clean up the mess. Done. |
