Simple question re the H16 rudder meachanics: as I approach the beach, are the rudders solidly locked down or will the pop up when they hit the ground? As I approach, I've been lifting the tillers up but that gets tough when managing my small kiddie crew on a windy day. Thanks! |

The rudders will kick up all by themselves. Their own patented design !!! |

They should kick up but you really should test that first, especially if you have the older rudder system (pre-'85) without the adjustment bolt in the top of the tiller arm. Most of the rudder adjustment videos will show how you can use a fishing scale to set the kick-up tension. |

It is advisable to pull the rudder locks up before approaching the beach/ jetty. Even if you don't pull them up, the rudder blades will still come up but may get damaged everytime they hit the ground. |
